Description:Phase 1 of the Human Microbiome Project had three areas of focus: 1) to establish baseline data on the composition of the microbiome in healthy human subjects at up to 18 body sites using both whole metagenome and 16S sequencing; 2) to sequence the genomes of ~3,000 isolate reference organisms collected from human body sites; and 3) to identify correlations between disease and changes in microbiome composition in demonstration projects. The HMP data analysis and coordinating center (DACC) provides a web resource for accessing the data and other resources generated by this project.
