Description:This project involved studying the differences in the microbiome on the skin of patients with psoriasis and healthy individuals to learn about the microbial species, genes, and gene products involved in pathogenesis of psoriasis. The study included examining differences in cutaneous community composition between psoriatic lesions compared to normal skin, identifying differences in the transcriptional profiles of the microbiome and the host between normal skin and psoriatic lesions, and estimating the effects of systemic immunomodulatory therapy for psoriasis on microbiome composition.
